On August 21st, the 2024 World Robot Conference kicked off at Beijing Etrong International Exhibition & Convention Center. With the theme of “Nurturing New Quality Productive Forces, Sharing an Intelligent Future”, the conference showcased the latest technologies, products, and applications in robotics.

Metal additive manufacturing offers greater design flexibility for robot components and enables small-batch flexible production, thus accelerating technological development and practical application. BLT presented numerous cutting-edge application cases of humanoid robots, engaging with visitors on the innovative directions for optimizing robot component design leveraging additive manufacturing minds.

The exhibited parts, including robot shoulder brackets, sternums, forearms, thighs, and finger joints, utilized topological optimization and multi-scale configuration design solutions. These designs integrate multiple parts into a single component, manufactured in one piece using BLT’s PBF-LB/M technology. The approach significantly reduces the number of parts, meets strength and functional requirements, lowers the overall weight, and simplifies the assembly process. In terms of innovative industrial cases, BLT also showcased optimized designs for valves and screws. The valve body, after removing traditional redundant features, has achieved a 40% weight reduction while enhancing fluid flow characteristics by minimizing flow resistance. The titanium alloy screw, designed with a lightweight structure, has achieved an 85% weight reduction compared to traditional standard parts, while maintaining the required strength.

The parts on display are produced using aluminum alloy with BLT-S600, achieving a total development time of just three days. BLT-S600 is equipped with BLT-XH300, an integrated powder circulation system, which manages the powder-handling process and enables automatic powder circulation during printing. The system addresses the challenge of extended production times and rapid powder turnover of large-format, multi-laser machines & systems. It reduces inter-stage waiting times, ensuring efficient production, and lowering overall production cycles and costs. It facilitates technology iterations and high-quality mass production for clients in the robotics industry.
